Sermon Outline – RED (Part 3)

What is RED? The words of Jesus.

Matthew 4:4 (NLT)
…The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every WORD that comes from the mouth of God.’”

1. Read the Red.
2. Know the Red.
3. Live the Red.

Ephesians 4:14 (NLT)
We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.

10 MORE THINGS JESUS DIDN’T SAY

1. Your sins are forgiven. Go and sin some more.

In John 8:11, Jesus said, “…Go and sin NO more.”

2. I don’t care how you live as long as you’re a good person.

Luke 18:19 (NLT) says, “Why do you call me good?” Jesus asked him. “Only God is truly good.

3. If my teachings make people uncomfortable go ahead and keep them to yourself.

Luke 9:2 says, Then Jesus sent them out to tell everyone about the Kingdom of God…

Luke 12:8-9 (NLT)
“I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. 9 But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels. <Yikes!>

4. Go and preach the Gospel unless it freaks you out because you’re shy and introverted.

Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19 = Jesus said, ”GO!”

Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)
You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Timothy was timid. Paul told him in 2 Timothy 1:7 by saying, “For God has not give you a spirit of fear, but of power…”

5. But after the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power to showcase your spiritual gifts inside the church.

Acts 1:8 (NLT)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere…

6. Concerning marriage, therefore what God has joined together let no one separate…unless you realize you made a mistake and meet someone “hotter.”

Mark 10:5-12 (NLT)
But Jesus responded, “He wrote this commandment only as a concession to your hard hearts. But ‘God made them male and female’ from the beginning of creation. ‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.” Later, when he was alone with his disciples in the house, they brought up the subject again. He told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries someone else, she commits adultery.”

7. Feel free to reinterpret or discard my words to support your lifestyle.

Revelation 22:19 (NLT)
And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.

8. Sex outside of marriage is okay, as long as your ‘married in your hearts.’

Romans 13 instructs us to obey the laws of the land.

Matthew 5:27-30 (NLT)
“You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

See 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 & Hebrews 13:4

9. To be culturally relevant supersedes my Word because my Word will eventually be outdated.

In Matthew 24:35 (NLT) Jesus said, Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.

ROMANS is more than a 2,000 year-old writing. It’s the inerrant that will outlive every popular trend and will remain forever. <Tweet this!>

10. As long as you love people, you can do whatever you want.

In John 14:15 Jesus said, “If you love me you will obey my commandments.”

You can love people and still go to hell.

Jude 3-4 (NLT)
Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people. I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
