10 Words That Will Change Your Life

God saw what was going on with Israel. God understood. —Exodus 2:25

Hope overflows from these ten words. ^

Stop. Read them again.

God sees. God understands.

The nation of Israel was in disarray. They were mistreated. They were in bondage. They were broken. They lived in slavery for four hundred years under a tyrant ruler who had forgotten who came before him. King Solomon said, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” Israel’s heart was crushed.

They felt forsaken and forgotten…by God.

Ever been there? Perhaps you’re there right now?

God had a plan. His plan had been “in the works” all along.

Enter Moses. Enter hope.

Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt.” —Exodus 3:7-10

Moses grew up in Egypt. He was being prepped to lead Israel out of slavery without even knowing it. Then he committed murder and hid on the backside of a desert for forty years. That can throw a wrench in your future. But God. Year forty-one delivered a second chance. A burning bush encounter with God paved the way for a new chapter in the life of Moses that resulted in a new chapter for God’s people.

Moses was rescued. God’s people were rescued.

God sees…your tears.

God hears…your cries.

God understands…your pain.
